Hydrogen and Tech Safari 3.0 to skill up youths of tomorrow

KUCHING, May 5: A tailored workforce provides employment supply chain capabilities in Sarawak’s emerging sectors.

In realising this Centre for Technology Sarawak (CENTEXS) is providing a platform through Hydrogen and Tech Safari 3.0, to aid Sarawakian youths to venture into green energy and digital economy.

The programme set in motion the right solution through designed programmes from a diverse collaboration with Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC).

Minister of Education and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD) Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said green energy is the future because it offers a sustainable, cost effective, and secure source of energy that benefits both the environment and the economy.

“As the world continues to move towards a more sustainable future, green energy will play an increasingly important role in meeting our energy needs.

“Through Hydrogen and Tech SAFARI 3.0, MEITD and CENTEXS develop a platform to share advancements in science and technology on all sides for the transformation of the green technology industry to increase the green tech knowledge of the youth in Sarawak,” he said at a press conference held at the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) tower here, on Friday.

He noted the intention is to boost the technology skill level of the workforce to create a literate generation, that has a positive influence and strives to contribute to Sarawak’s economy.

Sagah added programme will be launched on May 20 at nine locations in the state, namely, Serian, Betong, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri, Lawas, Kapit, Kota Samarahan and Kuching aims at SPM candidates school leavers and university graduates.

“The Hydrogen and Tech SAFARI 3.0 series is also planned to cover the Sarawak government’s desire to foray into green energy. As envisioned by the Premier of Sarawak, MEITD through CENTEXS is aligning its training towards a greener future to meet the needs of the Energy Industry.

“In understanding the Green Energy industry and related training, it is important to equip our local talents with relevant hands-on training to enable seamless integration into the industry workforce,” he noted.

He also pointed out that the programme provides opportunity to all job seekers through open interviews.

“This proves that MEITD through CENTEXS will not only provide a platform for our community to obtain international certifications but also, we are committed to connecting them with the industries and opportunities for premium employment in order to improve the livelihood and income.

He stressed his ministry through CENTEXS is committed in supporting the achievement of the Sarawak 2030 vision with government support and collaboration with strategic partners and industries.

“Trust is given by the State Government and Sarawak Foundation in strengthening the Industry Academy and Digital Academy training that is beneficial to the industries, public, and local communities in Sarawak.

“The intent is to skill up the Sarawak youth of tomorrow,” he said.

Also present at the press conference was CENTEXS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Syeed Mohd Hussien, Senior Management Team of CENTEXS and officers of MEITD. – TVS
